Have you ever had a Tuesday that you just could not believe wasn’t actually Friday? That’s today. Sunday morning started off normally and then it was super warp speed with a bunch of things that came up. Mostly good, but things! Unexpected things!

One unexpected thing is that I am back in school. For my second Masters. Because I love being a student apparently. Last night’s reading was interrupted by an episode of Vampire Diaries. Whoops.

Also I have this really fun post hanging out in the draft section that I’m hoping I’ll get finished and posted for a new installment that I like to call “Flashback Fridays”. Where we post about fun things that happened in the past. Be it a month or a year! It will hopefully become a semi-regular thing around here.

This makes me think, when does blog content become stale? Is it appropriate to finally blog about that vacation you took in May in October? I guess, since it’s our blog, we’ll do what we want!

The other night we noticed that it was almost completely dark at 7:30 pm. Summer is unofficially over and we’re caught in that weird space where we know that fall is upon us, but it’s still slightly too warm in the afternoon to really enjoy that Pumpkin Spice Latte. It’s actually one of my least favorite times because I’ve already said goodbye to summer and I just want fall! Bring on crisp air and leaves crunching beneath my feet. And all of the hot coffee and tea my body can handle. We’re almost there.

We’ve spent the last month trying to make the most of our summer, hence the absence of blogging. We now have a backlog and hope to get them up soon! Our fall is shaping up to be much busier than we originally anticipated. Juli is taking two art classes, I am taking one art class and going back to school. We’re both trying to dive into a second language. Plus there are all the Sunday football games and sporting foods that go along with them! In between all that I hope we can find some downtime. We have a backlog of things we want to write about and experiences to document and share so we plan on getting to that soon. I’m looking forward to reading about everybody’s favorite fall things!

There are so many different types of pizzas out there. The plain Jane types, the over-the-top creations, the gourmet pies, regional specialities… Whatever your mood, you can probably find a pizza that will curb the craving. Yeah, pizza is pretty much amazing like that.

With so many different pies to choose from, it’s interesting to me that whenever I ask someone ‘Hey, what’s your favorite pizza topping combination?’ most often it’s something relatively simple. Sure, maybe you love that shrimp and squid ink pizza from the swanky new hot spot downtown, but deep down you know cheese and pepperoni reign supreme. Maybe it’s nostalgia. Flavors that remind you of pizza night as a kid when you’d get your free personal pan pizza from Book-It [that was awesome]. Or maybe the flavors you love come from the memories of the pizza you’d eat every night while away at college living in the dorms. Or maybe you just realize your 12-year old self would kick your ass for liking something as pertinacious as shrimp and squid ink pizza. Whatever the case, everyone has a favorite. My favorite? Pepperoni and mushroom.

Is it really playing hookey if you got permission to not come in?  Probably not, but it’s still fun!  August is a big month for us over here at Quahogs + Coffee Milk.  We celebrate both of our birthdays and our wedding anniversary.  This usually leads to a pretty big month of celebration.  With my parents in town for Juli’s birthday we kept things low key this year.  But Monday while I was sitting at work I hatched the brilliant idea to take the next day off to celebrate my birthday.  After casually mentioning this to Juli she let me know she could sneak out of work early.  It turned out to be a great day and luckily I captured it on my iPhone.

Juli had to work for a few hours so after I leisurely got up and dressed I headed to Starbucks for my free birthday treat!  The weather was perfect and I sat outside, sipped my Caramel Macchiato, and got sucked into reddit.  Soon enough it was time for Juli to leave work and off we went!

I know we don’t have a lot of posts up yet but if you didn’t know us, one look at our blog and you’d be convinced that all we consumed was pizza and candy!

When Shannon and I started this blog, we started it with the hope of trying and track our comings and goings. To remember that trip to Bermuda. Or that weekend we decided to drive up to Maine just because a restaurant advertised a beer on tap we totally had to try. Or to be able to reference that really awesome dinner I made that one time but completely forgot about. A collection of us, and if people read that’s great too. But, man, blogging is hard!
